There is a lot of symbolism involved with the music video Monster as it is the soundtrack to Transformers. They have used 4 -5 different sets. The beginning they use a high angle long shot to capture the band in the water which we assume them to be dead and this relates to the lyrics within the song 'we can't sink any farther' as they stay at the surface of the water during cut backs to it throughout thew music video which shows us they do not sink. They use a variety of shot types mainly close ups and mid shots.
They then show the set of the other paramore dressed in white which are enclosed in the room, the white is supposed to represent the monsters inside them compared to the other paramore around the hospital which is deserted which we assume has something to do with the 'monsters' inside them. There is a range of high angled shots within the 'room' scene which is trapping them which is to assert the power of the symbolic monster with in them.
In the hospital of 'normal' paramore there is mainly long shots of the band and mid shots of individual band members to show their reaction to what is happening and the long shots are used to show action of the walls exploding and the general setting.
Their is only use of non digetic sound within the video as it is just the song playing and all the special effects and speech are mute and most of the speech is words from the song that they are miming. I think they do this to make the song create and impact of explosions going on due to the drum beat etc.
The lighting is mainly high key through the hospital scenes as they would be due to flourescent lighting. They part with the water is quite low key but has a spotlight on the singers face which usually happens as they are the limelight of most bands so therefore the lead character.
