Band
You Me At Six
Album
Saints and Sinners
This advert was used in 2011. This particular advert was from the magazine Kerrang!
Design
- The advert itself is very conventional to music and a music magazines as they have used the colour scheme of black and white. This also goes with the cover of the album which is shown in the advert.
- The layout looks as if it was set on a section of an A4 page with a picture of the album cover
- They have also used a neon pink colour as this advert is used to advertise HMV as well which is an example of Cross Media Advertising. To the right hand side of the album cover they have logos in pink for HMV representation of how you can get the album.
- Below the album cover they have the price, name of album, the band and what's in it.
- The colour scheme mainly reflects Rock bands so they have done well to keep this colour scheme as it is conventional and the main reason for this is that it's eye catching and appealing to the target audience.
- There is also a black and white image of the band at the top of the advert which also matches the colour scheme.
- This is one of the eye catching parts of the advert as it had high contrast and is of the band.
- The use of the high key lighting keeps the attention of the audience.
- The album cover is also meant to be like an American prison line up however they have made it look for old fashioned. The image is low saturation with mainly use of black and white. They haven't used the models face maybe to keep them annoymous which works with the name of the album 'Saints and Sinners'.
- The font used in the album cover is a serif and in white which contrasts with the black which could symbolize the dark and light of the 'Saints and Sinners'.
- The other font used is sans serif and the same as the logo of HMV, however, they have used white for the main infomation and pink for things only relevent and specific to HMV.
